Saint Dreux Emporium
Saint Dreux at Emporium is the second iteration of the quirky and contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese architecture from Arkhe Tekhne and the team behind Bench Coffee Co. Intended to be eye-catching and provide a showcase for exceptional food and coffee.
The ‘shoji’ façade provides a big gesture that solves the challenges posed by the tenancy location which was not immediately visible from the main public circulation.
The shoji screen analogy is taken further through the materiality of the façade. Simple materials are elevated by their design and this ties in perfectly with the sophisticated yet simple food served by Saint Dreux.
Sourcing beautiful marble benches, rustic hand-stained timber, and manufacturing bespoke ‘shoji’ lightboxes, Function Fitouts has built the entire store. Working with Arkhe Teknhe to overcome the new site-specific challenges and produce a space that pays homage to the Japanese culture and finely crafted cuisine by which Saint Druex was inspired.
Saint Dreux, located in Melbourne’s Lower Emporium on Lonsdale Street is another stunning example of a simple, sophisticated, and unique take on the Japanese Satsu Sando and Coffee restaurant. Mixing both modern and traditional, Saint Dreux gives customers a welcoming, balanced, and relaxed atmosphere with contrasting Japan Black stained wooden beams, juxtaposed with bright white LED panels. The two extremes of light and dark create a stunning visual experience, which stops passersby in their tracks to take in the striking visual experience.
Coupled with elegant food, Saint Dreux is a coffee break not to be missed in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, for both tourists or those working regularly within the vicinity. Trusted time and time again by our clients, the Function Fitouts Project Management and Shopfitting team’s dedication and attention to detail is not only second to none, but mandatory when delivering a high caliber store in the heart of Melbourne’s Emporium, up to the stadard of our esteemed client and Centre Management alike.
